Where the lights are on, and when they come back

A live map of regions, schedules by queue and reminders in Telegram. We show what we know and say plainly what we do not.

Based on operator schedules and confirmed signals. Not an official source.

How it works

Four steps from an operator’s web page to your screen. None of them invents data.

  1. Operator schedules

DTEK, Yasno and regional networks publish who loses power and when. We read that. If an operator publishes nothing, we show “No data”, never “power on”.

  2. Normalisation

Every format becomes one: operator, queue, “off” or “possible” intervals, Kyiv time.

  3. Independent signals

Resident reports, sensors and indirect signs shift the estimate. One signal decides nothing, and ten identical ones do not outweigh a few independent ones.

  4. Map and bot

The map shows queues and regions. Telegram sends reminders for your own queue.

Queues in 30 seconds

Hourly outage schedules (GPV) split consumers into 6 queues, and each queue into 2 subqueues. Not everyone is switched off at once: in any hour only some groups are without power. Your queue number is on your bill or in your operator’s account.

In Kyiv, DTEK uses its own numbering with up to 60 groups.

offpower onDay, Kyiv time. A schematic example, not a real schedule. Real schedules change daily.

One evening with SvitloPulse

Example: your queue’s schedule says power goes off at 19:00 and should return at 22:00. You choose how many minutes ahead to be reminded (5 to 180, up to three reminders).

  1. Reminder 30 min ahead

Time to charge your phone and boil some water.

  2. Reminder 10 min ahead

The last call before the outage.

  3. Power off per schedule

    With the expected restoration time.

  4. Scheduled return

If the power is still off, tell us. It helps your neighbours.

Example. Times and queue are made up.

Honest about accuracy

We do not know what happens in your flat. We know what the operator published and what independent signals confirm. Here is the line between the two.

We show with confidence

The operator’s schedule for a queue: when an outage is planned and when power is planned to return. Detail level: queue and region.

It is the operator’s public information, and we add nothing of our own to it.

We confirm with signals

When reality departs from the schedule, independent signals show it. We publish them with a delay of at least 30 minutes and only when there are at least five.

So that one wrong or made-up signal cannot move the map.

We do not show

House-level accuracy. Substations and power lines. Individual reports. Coordinates and addresses.

A map of substations is a map of targets, and a single signal is someone’s home.

Schedule only: limited confidence
Schedule plus independent signals: confidence can grow

Schematic. Without confirming signals we do not treat an estimate as fully reliable.

Time travel

Scrub the map back a day and see how things changed. It is a history of regional states at 5-minute steps, available through the API for up to 400 days.

Reminders in Telegram

Pick your queue once. The bot then writes before an outage, when it starts and when power should be back. We do not ask for an address, a phone number or a login.

  • Subscribe in a minute: pick a queue in the bot or press “Subscribe” on a queue page.
  • Up to 3 reminders per subscription (5 to 180 min) and up to 10 subscriptions.
  • Quiet hours: /quiet 23-7. No messages at night.
  • /forget deletes all your Telegram data in one step.

Neighbours in touch

Every queue, region and city has a discussion. Find out whether the next street is off and whether someone started a generator. Discussions are moderated automatically.

Example

  • No strikes or impacts

It is dangerous and unrelated to outages. The system rejects such posts.

  • No coordinates, phone numbers or links

So a discussion never turns into a target map or spam.

  • Your report is not public

“Power on” and “Power off” add your view to the shared estimate, but nobody can see what you pressed.

We are not the only ones, nor the best at everything

Ukraine has dozens of power services. We put them into an honest comparison, including where others are stronger.

Where we are stronger

  • State history up to 400 days and “time travel”
  • Schedule plus independent signals, with confidence shown
  • A public API with no key
  • Badges and a website card, a ping sensor for Home Assistant
  • Discussions with automatic moderation

Where others are stronger

  • A house on the map: Promin
  • Address search in most competitors (we cover only Kyiv and Dnipro)
  • Native apps, home screen widgets, Apple Watch
  • Hardware sensors: Svitlobot

Frequently asked questions

All questions

Is this an official source?

No. SvitloPulse is an independent service. Official information comes from distribution system operators and Ukrenergo. We gather their schedules in one place.

Where does the data come from?

From schedules published by operators and from Ukrenergo posts about the grid regime. We also weigh independent signals. The full list and its limits are on the “Data sources” page.

How accurate is the map?

As accurate as the operator’s schedule, and only at queue and region level. We do not promise house-level accuracy. When the schedule and reality diverge, “Outage possible” or an emergency status may show it.

What does “Outage possible” mean?

The operator marked the time as possible rather than certain, or signals do not let us say for sure. It is neither “on” nor “off”, just an honest “maybe”.

Why does my region say “No data”?

Because the operator does not publish a schedule in a machine-readable form, or the data has not been updated for a long time. We do not guess: unknown is grey, never green.

How do I find my queue?

The queue number is on your bill or in your operator’s account, and on the operator’s site by address. We store only the queue number, not your address.

Do I need an account?

No. The map, schedules and history are open without signing in. Reminders need only Telegram.

What do you know about me?

Very little: for reminders, a Telegram chat id and the queues you picked; for discussions, an anonymous device cookie. Everything in Telegram is deleted with /forget. Details are on the “Privacy” page.
